When your child smiles, you feel like the happiest person on earth. And we understand the worries you have related to your child’s dental health. The poor dental health of your child dramatically affects their overall health too. Hence, in this blog, we will discuss how you can take care of your child’s oral health.
Taking care of your child’s dental health is extremely significant, from the baby teeth to the fully grown permanent teeth. If it is not cared for properly, many dental issues like cavities and tooth decay could affect it. Though dental problems on baby teeth can be resolved as the teeth fall, it does give rise to misaligned or crooked permanent teeth. It can also lead to the need for several dental treatments as the child grows up. Thus, it is important to take care of your child’s dental health.
The most common dental problems kids experience are tooth decay or cavities. They become severe issues when not properly addressed. Thus, you should consider the following points to make your child healthy and happy.
The best way a parent can protect their child’s dental health is to teach them about following good oral habits. With proper teaching, they will adopt good oral hygiene practices. Although they are fully participating in making their teeth, mouth, and gums healthy, they will not be able to do it all. So, it is your responsibility to supervise your child and help them clean their mouth appropriately. Also, thoroughly check whether there are any brown or black spots in their teeth.
As soon as your little ones get their first two to three teeth, you should start teaching them to brush their teeth twice a day. Use a pea-size amount of fluoride toothpaste if your child is three years old. You should watch over your child as they brush to prevent them from swallowing the toothpaste. Also, it is advisable to keep an eye on whether they have cleaned their teeth, i.e., removing plaque from the teeth and between the teeth.
Besides teaching them about good oral habits or brushing techniques, their diet also plays a significant role in their dental health. Foods like candies, sticky caramel, toffees, or gums cause tooth decay or cavities. Thus, limit the intake of these food items and start seeing a dental pediatrician from age one. This will relieve them of the anxiety of visiting the dentist in the future and protect them from severe dental problems.
